逼近40摄氏度,申城进入“烧烤”模式 2016-07-22
THE mercury touched 39.1 degrees Celsius yesterday, triggering the second orange heat wave alert and setting a new city record for the hottest day so far this year, forecasters said.
The mercury soared in the morning and the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau issued the year's second orange alert at 8:40am. By 2:20pm, temperatures had soared to 39 degrees. The Nanpu Bridge monitoring station recorded a high of 40 degrees, while Songjiang District recorded 40.7 degrees at 4pm.
The sizzling conditions will remain today and tomorrow. On Sunday, the high will drop to 36 degrees.
