THE city's urban planning department is studying ways to connect Chongming Island with the city's downtown with a Metro line as well as a train line, reported Metro Express. According to the local newspaper, a Metro line will connect east Chongming to Pudong's Caolu area, and will use the existing Changjiang tunnel and bridge. The project is awaiting approval by the central government.
