Wu Qing, 52, former director of Hongkou District and chairman of the Shanghai Stock Exchange, was appointed as vice mayor of Shanghai yesterday afternoon at a meeting of the Standing Committee of Shanghai People's Congress,
Wu, born in 1965, served as head of department and office director at China Securities Regulatory Commission and was named as chairman of Shanghai's Hongkou District and secretary of the district Party committee. He was later appointed as chairman and Party committee secretary of the Shanghai Stock Exchange.
During yesterday's meeting, the committee heard the report on the appointment proposal put forward by Ying Yong, mayor of Shanghai, and the review and comments from related working committee. Following a vote and pledge of allegiance to the Constitution of the People's Republic of China, Wu has been appointed appointed as city's vice mayor.
