FLYING kicks promise to be a staple feature of the Shanghai International Film Festival in years to come with the announcement yesterday of a regular Jackie Chan Action Movie Gala at future events.

The gala aims to honor people who have made outstanding contributions to action cinema and display the latest trends of cinematography and special effects in this genre, officials said at the ongoing 17th Shanghai International Film Festival.

Hong Kong-born Chan, one of the most influential Chinese kung fu stars, has achieved international fame in a career stretching back to the 1960s and spanning 150 films.
