New routes to highlight city’s historic lanes 2015-04-15
THE Jing’an District government will introduce new city-highlight routes next month that will take visitors around 10 traditional Shanghai longtang (lanes) in downtown, an official said yesterday.
The 10 selected lanes cover many of city’s historic landmarks including the Yuhua New Community on Fumin Road, known for its old villa style residential houses, and the Yugucun Village, a community of wooden and brick structures built in 1927.
“The government will launch the route and design a series of activities that can also help in preserving the historical residential houses,” Chen Weijia, an official with the Jing’an Temple Community, said yesterday, adding the tour details will be announced early next month.
