First renovation in two decades starts on city's century-old cathedral 2015-12-02
THE century-old Xujiahui Cathedral will be under renovation through next August to restore its historic look as one of the city's most iconic buildings, the district government said.
Renovation had kicked off last Monday and would last till August 17 with the cathedral being closed for the project, an official with the government told Shanghai Daily.
Formerly known as Saint Ignatius Cathedral, it was once the largest cathedral in the Far East.
