Metro users subjected to ID checks 2016-02-05
SUBWAY users are being subjected to full-body security scans and identity checks under a program launched on a trial basis by the city’s Metro police in October, thepaper.cn reported yesterday.
A journalist with the news website spotted a portable gateway-style scanner manned by police officers at Hailun station — which serves both Lines 4 and 10 — and wrote a report about her findings.
The article said that all passengers entering the station were required to show their ID cards — or passports in the case of foreigners — and pass through the scanner before being allowed onto the platforms.
