A NUMBER of traffic restrictions will apply in the Pudong New Area this weekend due to the annual Shanghai International Half Marathon, which gets under way on Sunday morning, police said yesterday.

In the area around the Oriental Sports Center — where the race ends — the section of Yongyao Road between Yaolong and Dongyu roads will be closed to all traffic from 10pm tomorrow until noon on Sunday, while the stretch of Dongyu Road between Yangsi Road W. and Yongyao Road will be similarly off limits from 7am until noon on Sunday.

Near the Oriental Pearl Tower, where the race starts, vehicles will be banned inside the triangle formed by Fenghe Road, Mingzhuta Road and Riverside Avenue from 5am to 7am on Sunday, while all streets along the race route will be closed from 6am to 9:30am.
