Exploring civilian uses for military tech 2016-04-25
SCIENTISTS at Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology have applied missile radar technology in the unlikely areas of road traffic monitoring and self-driving vehicles.
The project was one of three that won the academy’s Golden Seed Award competition for innovation and entrepreneurship, which aims to facilitate the commercialization of military technology in civilian life. The competition’s final-round roadshow was held yesterday afternoon.
“The competition aimed to promote the researchers’ commercial potential,” Li Xin, president of the academy’s labor union, told Shanghai Daily.
