Scroll by Lancang-Mekong youths unveiled at Fudan University   2023-03-22

A 50-meter scroll painted by youth representatives from the Lancang-Mekong region was unveiled at Fudan University in Shanghai over the weekend.

Young people from six Lancang-Mekong countries, including Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam and Cambodia, contributed to the project, which started in June last year.

The scroll depicts iconic natural and cultural landscapes of the six countries and the landmark moments in the development of youth cooperation in the region.

"We see that the six countries have a lot in common and we have had to overcome many obstacles to achieve the current results," said Jiratchaya Phinyoworakul, a Thai international student who is currently studying at Fudan University.

Fudan University has since 2015 been organizing Lancang-Mekong youth exchange activities that have been warmly received by the governments and universities of the other five countries.

The Mekong Youth Exchange and Cooperation Center, which was officially established in July 2019, is the third inter-country platform under the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Mechanism that aims to promote exchanges, cooperation and common development between the six countries in the Lancang-Mekong region.
