Appreciation dinner showcases flourishing US-China trade relations in agricultural industry 2023-07-04
An appreciation dinner, co-hosted by CLB Management, One World Beef and the US Beef Export Federation, was held Wednesday in Shanghai, showcasing the agriculture trade ties between the US and China.
The event brought together guests from the agricultural and logistics sectors, along with key individuals in the US-China beef trade.
During the event, Ted Shibata, deputy director of the Agricultural Trade Office in Shanghai, emphasized his optimism on US-China beef trade. "We are optimistic about the import trend in 2023, and events like this play a crucial role in fostering connections between buyers and sellers," he said.
The appreciation dinner served as a platform for industry experts to discuss the positive impact of the end of the trade war and the lifting of restrictions. Discussions revolved around the impact of the trade war and pandemic-related restrictions on agricultural imports and exports. Attendees noted that despite the challenges, the volume of imported food in restaurants has experienced a notable increase since the lifting of restrictions. They emphasized the crucial role of agricultural trade, especially in the beef sector, as food remains of paramount importance to the people.
Polly Zhao, representing the US Meat Export Federation, expressed her belief that China will eventually become the largest export market for US beef. With the United States being the world's largest beef producer, this partnership holds immense potential, given China's rising income and increased consumption capacity.
The event saw the participation of other noted figures including Yuan Weifeng, chairman of Shanghai Tonghua International Logistics (Group) Co Lt .and Candice Niu from CLB Management.
As the prospects for agricultural trade continuesto improve, the event set the stage for further collaboration and growth between the US and China in the beef sector and beyond, according to the organizers.
