Exhibition draws attention to food waste   2023-10-26

"The Food Funeral" is not an actual funeral but an exhibition.

"The Food Funeral" is a collective action to raise awareness about food waste and the resulting environmental problem.

The exhibition employs artistic formats and digital technologies to draw attention to food waste, as well as an interactive "memorial service" to commemorate the "unnatural death of food."

The production, refining, distribution, and retail of food result in waste.

The program initiated by Green Foodbank and Weber Shandwick sheds light on edible foods that are deemed unfit for sale for a variety of reasons, and the artistic works replicate the food's personified monologue as it is wasted and discarded.

Suitable food is frequently deemed unsuitable based on certain criteria, and improper transportation and storage cause not only manufacturers but also consumers significant problems.

Green Foodbank is one of the earliest organizations to collect and distribute surplus or excess food from restaurants and grocery stores to those in need.

On the second level of the venue, visitors can also learn how to deal with food that is about to expire in an effort to end food funerals.
