Chinese luxury NEV brand HiPhi launches electric supercar jointly developed with Apollo   2023-11-20

HiPhi, an electric vehicle brand under new energy vehicle maker Human Horizons Technology, has released an electric supercar designed and developed in collaboration with Apollo, the luxury fuel car marque of WESail New Energy Automotive, a joint venture between Shanghai Alliance Investment and Apollo Future Mobility Group.

The HiPhi A made its debut at the Guangzhou Auto Show last Friday, after being announced at a press conference in Shanghai on Nov. 15. The car is a four-seat electric hypercar with an 800-volt platform, three electric motors, and a carbon fiber battery pack that can discharge up to 1.5 megawatts of power. With a top speed of 300 kilometers per hour, the HiPhi A can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just over two seconds.

HiPhi and Apollo reached an agreement on Nov. 15 for HiPhi to cooperate with Shanghai Alliance on satellite communication, artificial intelligence and chips, cross-industry application of intelligent vehicle interactive display technology, and intelligent NEVs, as well as help Apollo realize electric transformation, an insider told Yicai.

On the same day, HiPhi also reached an agreement with ShanghaiTech University on intelligent EV design, intelligent manufacturing, AI, power electronics, and power management.

“The combination of HiPhi’s luxury product concept, first-class development, and industrial capabilities with Apollo supercar elements, combined with the technical expertise and innovation from ShanghaiTech University, make HiPhi A what it is – a true work of art for this new era,” said David Ding, founder, chairman, and chief executive officer of HiPhi, industrial design media outlet Designboom reported yesterday.

HiPhi has launched three mass-produced pure electric car models priced between CNY600,000 and CNY800,000 (USD82,850 and USD110,460), the most expensive Chinese NEV startups. It sold 9,796 units in the past two years, ranking second after Porsche among brands offering EVs at above CNY500,000.

Apollo is now selling large-displacement fuel vehicles with a price range from CNY10 million to CNY20 million (USD1.4 million to USD2.8 million).

“NEVs will definitely replace traditional fuel luxury cars, and that’s why HiPhi is looking for electric transformation opportunities for high-end cars,” Ding told Yicai.
