Nio teams up with Longi to promote PV power generation in battery charging, swap stations
Chinese new energy vehicle startup Nio has joined hands with Chinese solar giant Longi Green Energy Technology to promote the use of green energy from photovoltaic power generation in battery charging and swapping stations.
Nio and Longi will work together to advance the distributed PV system coordinated with Vehicle to Grid, the set of technologies that enables electric vehicles to deliver power to the grid, Nio said on its official WeChat account today. The pair will also set industry standards for carbon-neutral travel.
Moreover, Nio and Longi will build PV power, energy storage, battery charging, and swapping all-in-one stations, the Shanghai-based carmaker added.
"This collaboration with Longi will drive the wider adoption of PV power generation in the automotive industry and empower more NEVs to use solar-generated green electricity as a primary energy source, contributing to the high-quality development of the intelligent electric vehicle industry," said Li Bin, founder, chairman, and chief executive officer of Nio.
The first Hybrid Passivated Back Contact PV battery swap station co-built by Nio and Longi has already been put into operation at the Xi'an Olympic Sports Center.
Nio is China's and the world's largest intelligent EV battery swap network operator, with over 2,300 swap stations globally.
Founded in 2000, Xi'an-based Longi is a world-leading solar energy technology firm. It owns production bases in China, Vietnam, and Malaysia and operates in more than 150 countries and regions.
