The vessel, which boasts a maximum of 8,600 parking spaces, is the first of the dual-powered large PCTC series being built by Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding for Citic Financial Leasing Co Ltd. Designed independently by the Shanghai Merchant Ship Design and Research Institute (SDARI), a CSSC subsidiary, the vessel is 199.9 meters in length and 38 meters in width.

The PCTC, which is Shanghai's largest of its kind and under construction, is named Wen Jing Kou.

The PCTC has a combined deck area of about 75,000 square meters, nearly equivalent to 11 standard soccer fields, which involves huge volume of engineering. For instance, the total number of lashing bowls required to secure vehicles is close to 65,000, the insulation construction area exceeds 100,000 square meters, and the total length of cables is about 500 kilometers.
