Android ‘employees’ turn heads at Shanghai Auto Show   2025-04-27

 

 



Humanoid robots are garnering much attention among visitors to the Shanghai Auto Show. Android “employees” are everywhere to be seen, greeting passersby with friendly handshakes and springing into life as animated “shopping guides” at exhibition booths.

One of the Unitree Robotics’ droids that went viral for a dance routine in this year’s Spring Festival Gala, an annual television variety show marking the Chinese New Year, performs in the display area of FAW Bestune Yueyi, a range of cars made by FAW Group under its Bestune brand.


Xpeng’s first humanoid robot, Iron, stands inside the EV maker's booth. According to He Xiaopeng, chairman and chief executive, the company has started training the robots to work in factories and aims to achieve mass production by 2026.


SAIC Motor's brand Roewe brought AgiBot’s Expedition A2 robot to the biannual auto show to act as a sales consultant, presenting vehicle highlights to visitors.


BAIC Group’s humanoid robot Xiaozhi offers consultation services at the carmaker’s exhibition area.

Chery Automobile’s Mornine android shows off the company’s flying car, which completed an 80-kilometer test flight last year.
