Shanghai International Film Festival receives record submissions this year 2025-06-17

The 27th Shanghai International Film Festival has received more than 3,900 submissions from 119 countries and regions, setting a new record.
The SIFF opened in Shanghai on June 13 and will run until June 22. It is China's sole A-category international film festival. Six films by Chinese and foreign directors entered the main competition for the Golden Goblet Awards, while three were selected for the Asian New Talent Awards.
During the SIFF, 61 screens across 48 cinemas in Shanghai and China's eastern Yangtze River Delta region will project over 400 films from 71 countries and regions.

Italian director Giuseppe Tornatore, president of this year's Golden Goblet Awards jury panel, takes a photo with fellow jurors at the SIFF red carpet ceremony.
