Shanghai eases entry for 8th CIIE visitors with visa and safety measures 2025-10-23
Shanghai police have implemented new entry-exit facilitation measures for the 8th China International Import Expo (CIIE) at the National Exhibition and Convention Center from November 5 to 10.
For the first time, the port e-visa program will cover CIIE participants. Shanghai-based organizations can apply online for invited foreign exhibitors and visitors through the official CIIE website (www.ciie.org) or the city's online government service platform (https://zwdt.sh.gov.cn/govPortals/index.do).
Holders of the confirmation letter for the port e-visa can enter China through a fully paperless, fast-track process.
Facilitation services now cover foreign exhibitors invited by companies outside Shanghai and organized delegations of overseas visitors to the CIIE, who can get port entry visas.
Returning exhibitors and professional visitors can use their 5th to 7th CIIE passes during registration and enter without new credentials.
The Foreign Service Station at the venue will process residence or stay permits for foreign exhibitors.
Eligible visa-free foreign exhibitors can be offered facilitation to apply for residence or stay permits.
Domestic exhibitors traveling abroad will have access to 24-hour smart endorsement machines for obtaining Hong Kong and Macau travel permits.
The CIIE website has included China's Foreign Permanent Resident ID Card as a registration option.
The expo registration deadline has been extended to the end of October, with a temporary channel that could be opened if necessary.
Special exhibition booths will have a "one-click alarm" for medical or lost item emergencies, allowing police to respond immediately.
So far, over 3,200 companies from more than 110 countries and regions have confirmed their participation in the CIIE, covering a total exhibition area of more than 360,000 square meters.
