The first airplane hospital in China.

Fudan University's Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat Hospital in Shanghai has partnered with the makers of a Chinese C909 jetliner to create the country's first airplane hospital, with an operating room.

The facility is now equipped for eye, nose, ear, and throat surgeries, showcasing China's capability to deliver precise, high-end medical services from an airborne platform.

Using a custom-designed Chinese device and a boltless connection system, the entire operating room was installed in just eight hours. According to the hospital, this innovative design allows the airplane to achieve Level 1 cleanliness despite cabin height restrictions, ensuring both safety and medical functionality.

Currently, the airplane includes various sections for diagnosis, examination, training, surgical preparation, and surgery.

Officials stated that the aircraft aims to meet medical needs both domestically and internationally. They plan to establish a regular service schedule, primarily focusing on supporting remote areas with limited medical facilities and regions along the Belt and Road Initiative, thereby extending high-level medical services to other countries.
