First-time filmmakers win top award at festival 2016-06-20
THE Indian entry "Thithi" was named Best Film last Friday at the Asian New Talent Award ceremony of the 2016 Shanghai International Film and TV Festival at Daning Theater.
Directed by Raam Pratap Reddy, "Thithi" is a comedy drama telling the story of three generations of men reacting to the death of their cantankerous patriarch Century Gowda, the oldest of their clan, in a remote village in Karnataka in South India.
Three storylines intertwine before converging at Gowda's "thithi" — funeral ceremony — 11 days after his death.
