CHARLES Vanoverschelde became the first French student to get an internship work permit under an agreement signed by China and France last year.

He picked up his work permit, tagged "intern," and residence permit from the employment center of the Shanghai Human Resources and Social Security Bureau yesterday.

Vanoverschelde, who is a junior student at a business school in France, will work in the product quality department of the Camaieu Apparel (Shanghai) Co, a French company in Shanghai, from July.
