Metro to run more trains during the two festivals 2016-09-09
SHANGHAI’S metro operator will add more trains during the Shanghai Tourism Festival and Mid-Autumn Festival. Extra safety measures will be taken, such as closing some exits at busy stations.
This year’s tourism festival starts tomorrow and runs to October 6, while the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday is from Thursday (the day of the festival) to September 17. According to the metro operator Shanghai Shentong Group, Line 2 and Line 10’s Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station will be under heavy pressure on September 17 with travelers returning to the city by train.
To meet the increased demand, more trains will be added along Line 10’s section between Hongqiao Railway Station and Jiangwan Stadium Station from noon till the Metro closes on September 17. Trains will run between Hongqiao Railway Station and Longxi Road Station every seven and a half minutes from the current 10 minutes during the festival period.
