THE third phase of Metro Line 8 is expected to be connected by the end of this year, which will promote the development of massive residential complexes in Pujiang Town, the city's Metro operator said.

Unlike conventional Metro lines, trains on the new section will use rubber tires filled with nitrogen and run on a concrete railway.

This means the elevated line can be installed close to residential communities as the trains can run both more quietly and more environmentally friendly.
