Shanghai pulls in over 9m tourists 2016-10-08
THE weeklong National Day holiday brought 9.27 million tourists to Shanghai, up 5 percent from last year, the Shanghai Tourism Administration said yesterday.
This year's holiday brought the city 9.1 billion yuan (US$1.36 billion) of travel revenue, 13.2 percent up on the 2015 holiday.
More than 2.6 million tourists arrived in the city by train and 576,000 by bus for the holiday, both 10.8 percent higher than last year. The number of people arriving by air rose 2.6 percent to over 1 million, with travelers coming by ship reaching 11,000, up 9.9 percent.
