SHANGHAI Mayor Yang Xiong met a delegation from Espoo, a city in Finland, led by its mayor Jukka Mäkelä, on Tuesday. The two sister cities renewed their cooperation agreement for the next three years.

Yang said Espoo is a technology center in the Nordic region. Shanghai and Espoo have enjoyed fruitful exchanges and cooperation in education, culture, environmental protection, science and technology.

The mayor said Shanghai has switched to innovation-driven economy and is trying to develop into a global innovation center following the national initiative to involve the public in business creation and innovation.
