THE major section of a new expressway has been completed in the Pudong New Area which is designed to mainly relieve traffic congestion around the Shanghai Disney Resort, officials said yesterday.

The 3.1-kilometer-long section of the S3 Expressway connects the Luoshan Road Elevated Highway and the Zhoudeng Expressway. It is expected to share the busy traffic flow on Xiupu Road mainly heading to the Disney resort, said the project manager Xu Jianjun.

The section will also relieve the traffic congestion for the roads connecting the suburb Kangqiao and Zhoupu town in Pudong and downtown areas, Xu said. Vehicles from the towns will also be able to drive to the Outer Ring Road through the new expressway section.
