Shanghai's baby orangutan is named 2016-12-28
THE first orangutan born at Shanghai Zoo has been named “Yuan Yuan.”
It has the auspicious meaning of perfectness and healthy growth.
The name was given by the public. In Chinese, “yuan” also means family reunion, and the male orangutan was chubby and round upon birth, which also signifies “yuan” in Chinese, the zoo said.
