SHANGHAI Jiao Tong University has set up an international center for innovative design. The university announced yesterday the center would cultivate creative talents and serve Shanghai’s industrial upgrading.

The center’s setting up plays into Shanghai being a UNESCO City of Design. Many international creative companies, such as Disney and Oriental Dream Works, now have a presence in the city.

Jiao Tong would build the center into a platform for interdisciplinary fusion, international cooperation and connection, and industry-university-research interaction, said Zhou Wuzhong, director of the new center.
