More trains will run on Metro Line 7 and 16 to boost transport capacity of the two lines from Friday, the city’s Metro operator said yesterday.

Line 7 will see three trains added during the morning rush period on working days, which will cut the service interval between Shangda Road Station in Baoshan District and Longhua Road M. Station in Xuhui District down to 2 minutes 45 seconds. Extra trains will also depart from Yanggao Road S. Station in the Pudong New Area and terminate at Qihua Road in Baoshan District during the evening peak period to help passenger flow.

On Line 16, a six-carriage train will be added during the morning rush period and two will be added in the evening rush hours. Trains on this line will travel faster to allow them a longer stop at the platforms to let more passengers in.
