Shanghai Party Secretary Li Qiang met Steve Daines, US Senator of Montana, and his delegation yesterday.

Li said this year marks the 40th anniversary of China’s opening-up and reforms and as the country’s economic center, Shanghai is working hard to build itself into an international economic, financial, trade and shipping center as well as a technology and innovation center to exert its service functions and radiating effects.

The city has extensive cooperation and exchanges with many regions of the US, especially in areas like trade, education, technology and research, and cultural industries. Many successful US companies have participated in and witnessed the process of Shanghai’s opening-up. And the city will keep improving the business environment for both Chinese and foreign companies, including US firms.
