An exhibition showcasing the history and development of modern medicine was launched in Shanghai with the arrival of the nation’s first Doctors’ Day on Sunday. More than 500 historical items on display at the Long Museum in Xuhui District chronicle the introduction of Western medicine to China, the development of hospitals and doctors, and the history of China's health industry. Shanghai is the origin of China’s modern medicine and a major medical center of the nation — there are 12 hospitals with more than 100 years of history in the city.
