Walking tour lets residents see another side of Shanghai 2018-12-03
A walking tour and cycling event was held in Shanghai over the weekend, with 1,000 participants experiencing the splendor of the city on foot.
The four groups taking part in the event traversed between 12.5 kilometers and 100 kilometers along set routes in six downtown Shanghai districts. These routes covered red tourism spots, historical buildings, industrial remains and modern commercial areas.
The 12.5-kilometer tour in Changning District took participants to spots such as Hongqiao Economic and Technological Development Zone, one of the first batch of 14 economic and technological development zones approved by the State Council. The 25-kilometer tour was designed around "red tourism" as participants passed red revolutionary landmarks such as the Sihang Warehouse in Jing'an District, where Chinese soldiers bravely fought Japanese invaders.
