Souvenirs with innovative designs and a Shanghai flavor won awards Thursday after coming out tops in the city’s annual tourism souvenir competition. They were selected from nearly 1,000 entries in this year’s competition managed by the Shanghai Administration of Culture and Tourism. The winning works included a set of carved paper lanterns blending the ancient technique of paper carving dating back to the Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 220) and haipai (Shanghai) culture.
