Another 50 childcare centers to open   2019-01-22

An additional 50 community-based childcare centers will be built in 2019 to further relieve the burden on young working parents as one of the city’s major life improvement projects, Shanghai Women’s Federation said on Monday. Because of  dire shortage of accessible and affordable childcare in Shanghai, the federation in 2017 initiated a program to open 20 childcare facilities in communities, accepting children aged between 2 and 3. Last year, an additional 25 facilities opened. Currently, the 45 sites cover all of the city's 16 districts. Parents can find the nearest site from the federation’s WeChat account “shanghaifulian.” They can also get details over the phone.
