Intellectual property rights case up 43% 2019-04-23
Shanghai courts accepted 22,680 intellectual property rights cases last year, 43.46 percent more than in 2017.
Shanghai High People’s Court said there was an almost 70 percent increase in cases related to computer science and the Internet, which suggested that while the creative cultural industry and information industry were striving, the management and protection of copyright and intellectual rights faced risks and challenges.
According to the White Paper on the Intellectual Property Trials by Courts of Shanghai in 2018, litigation involving intellectual property rights often faced difficulties in collecting proof. For plaintiffs, compensation was often low, and they had to wait for a long time for it.
