The newly established Yangtze River Delta Ecology and Greenery Integration Demonstration Zone announced an ecological target on Tuesday that included over 95 percent of its water reaching national standards and greenery coverage of more than 42 percent by 2025.
The zone covers about 2,300 square kilometers in Suzhou’s Wujiang District, Jiashan County in Jiaxing and Shanghai's Qingpu District.
The zone’s executive committee said water quality in more than 95 percent of water samples in the zone’s main water function areas will reach the national standard by 2025, and the water quality of the Taipu River will reach National III standard for drinking, aquaculture and swimming by that time.
