Game company copied Blizzard’s ‘Hearthstone’ 2014-11-11
A CITY Internet gaming company has been ordered to stop selling an online game and pay compensation to two companies for copying a “World of Warcraft” game, the Shanghai No.1 Intermediate People’s Court announced yesterday.
US-based Blizzard Entertainment and China’s Wangzhiyi filed a lawsuit against Unico Interactive Ltd this year, accusing the Shanghai company of infringing their intellectual property rights with regard.
Blizzard, which is best known for producing the “World of Warcraft” series of games, and Wangzhiyi, an affiliate of Chinese Internet company NetEase, claimed Unico’s online game, “Sleeping Dragon: Heroes of the Three Kingdoms,” incorporated elements copied from their product, “Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft.”
