47% drop in number of accidents 2014-11-14
THE number of road accidents that killed or injured people nearly halved this year from last year, local traffic police said.
There were 952 traffic accidents by November 11 this year that killed 711 people and injured 508. Police said the number of the accidents was down 46.5 percent from last year.
Improper driving habits like using cellphones while driving accounted for nearly 30 percent of the accidents. Others causes included not giving way to pedestrians, running red light and drunk driving.
