Mayor seeks more input to government report   2015-01-20

Shanghai Mayor Yang Xiong urged city officials to improve their problem-solving capabilities and use big data technology to evaluate employee performance. He was speaking with officials in charge of government hotlines and public service centers recently.

Yang invited these officials to make suggestions on the government work report he is going to deliver to the Municipal People's Congress at its annual meeting.

The officials said that some urban management problems are complex and persistent. The government should not relax efforts to crack these problems instead it should improve public services to reduce people's complaints.

Yang thanked the officials for their valuable suggestions and said their suggestions will be reflected in the government work report. He also asked them to listen more to the public and find ways to solve problems through coordination with different departments and districts.

Yang said the government hotline service has a trove of suggestions from the public and should be well utilized to improve government efficiency. Public service centers run by district governments must simplify their procedures and raise their work efficiency.

Vice mayors Tu Guangshao and Ai Baojun were present at the meeting.
