2,490 couples tie the knot on Valentine’s   2015-02-15

A TOTAL of 2,490 couples tied the knot on Valentine’s Day in Shanghai yesterday, the civil affairs bureau said.

The Pudong New Area was the busiest part of the city, with 487 weddings, followed by Putuo and Minghang districts, with 165 and 156, respectively. The total number of marriage registrations was far below last year’s total however, when 4,900 couples tied the knot. In 2014, Valentine’s Day coincided with the Lantern Festival, making it even more special.
